Learn the most important tools of professional sexual counselling from a qualified sexologist.

Next round of sexual counselling training from February 2025

How and where can you train as a sex counsellor in Germany? There is still no standardised training in sexology and sexual counselling in Germany that prepares you for the profession of sexual counsellor. The term sexologist is also not yet very common, although sexology means nothing other than the science of sexuality. The first round of this training programme took place ten years ago, the first in Germany that was open to everyone and also offered career changers the opportunity to train. It was developed from my twenty years of experience as a sex therapist and lecturer: A compact yet detailed, theoretical, yet practical and certified training format that enables you to work as a sexual counsellor/sexual coach in a manageable amount of time. Since its inception, this sexual counselling training has been continuously updated and expanded. You can find feedback from former participants below. You can find out what qualifies me as a lecturer for this training as a sexologist.

Would you like to get an impression of me and/or my way of working? Order one of the free videos! Or read one of my books. I can also send you PDFs of my scientific publications. On the blog page you will find various articles on the subject of sexuality.

Is this training as a sex counsellor/sex coach right for me?

Some institutions (such as the DGfS) offer training as a sexual counsellor and, since April 2016, there has been a seven-semester Master’s degree in sexology and sexual counselling for a fee (€20,000). Other colleagues have also developed similar concepts over the years, but these are difficult to compare because the duration, content and requirements for participation or certification vary greatly. In addition, the leaders of the various programmes have very different professional backgrounds. It’s best to get your own impression and decide which programme is most suitable for you. You can find my qualifications as a sexologist here.

Sexuality as a resource

Sexuality is an essential part of life and an important resource. At the same time, it is a lifelong learning process and its potential can be continuously expanded and developed.

Topics and questions relating to our sexual experience and behaviour are very common, but for most people they are often associated with shame and fear. Professionally prepared people are needed in this particular field!

In my work as a sex therapist, I have realised time and again how an open, professional discussion about sexuality alone can help to enable greater safety and empowerment.

In seven weekend seminars, you will acquire the necessary sexological knowledge to support people in their individual development.

Who can become a sex coach?

This training to become a sexual counsellor/sexual coach is generally aimed at people who are already working or would like to work in the field of counselling. No special prerequisites are required for participation. In addition, this training can also be attended as a very personal development process without focussing on the professional aspect. It acts as a booster for profound change processes in your own sexual experience and behaviour. I like to recommend it to my clients because it can be faster and more effective than sex therapy.

With this training, you can work in different ways. In addition to traditional counselling in the practice or online, you can offer educational work in the form of blogs, videos or webinars, as well as self-awareness groups and/or specific offers on sexological topics of your choice.

You will also receive information and suggestions on how you can develop your professional activities. And don’t worry! You will have already gained your first practical experience with clients or participants before the end of the training to obtain the certificate.

Feedbacks

Carsten W.

Dear Susanna,
A short feedback from my side: I was actually asked in one of the breakout rooms whether the information Susanna provided, particularly from the medical field, was technically correct from my point of view as a doctor.
I could only answer with a big, fat YES, ABSOLUTELY!
So I would like to give you some personal feedback on your work and training:
I was always deeply impressed by your in-depth knowledge in all areas! It was really convincing. Before I started the first block, I had no idea what to expect. The training gave me so much confidence in the field of sexual counselling that I almost didn’t expect it.
Thank you Susanna for your great work, it was really exciting, incredibly informative and knowledge transferring every time, it was a pleasure! (Carsten W.  2024)

It was another wonderful, insightful and inspiring weekend that really challenged me emotionally.
Thank you so much for your incredibly engaging manner, your time and the great structure of the seminar. I would never have thought that I could be so captivated online and that so much closeness could develop between the participants despite the distance! 🙂

You were amazing last weekend! I enjoyed the time so much. Everything was right: it was motivating, inspiring, exciting and relaxing, exuberant and cheerful. In this atmosphere, it is also possible to understand and retain the highly complex interrelationships. Of course, this is also due to your great expertise, the excellent preparation of the topics, a ‘knack’ for changing methods and your great charisma.

Martin F.

I am proud to have attended the seminar with you: You are the best proof of a successful sexologist! Thank you also for the broad knowledge you imparted to me. You conveyed this with a genuine joy for the topic, which is so endearing and unique! Your skills as a trainer are very special: you convey sexology in a cheerful, relaxed and calm manner. I enjoyed following you mentally.

Thank you so much for your inspiring seminar! After coming home really inspired, I wanted to say thank you again!!! The weekend was absolutely amazing :). I take a lot with me, most of all I think your positive, appreciative way of looking at sexuality – away from deficits, from disorders, and towards resources, energy, places of strength, even in small things. I liked your combination of a lot of head input and a lot of heart-body-journeying sensations. I also liked your encouragement to slow down and to accept that you don’t always want to bring about one big change/solution, but to take small steps towards moving the problem forward.

I found Susanna-Sitari Rescio’s training programme more than enriching, both for my future career and for my personal development.

Firstly, she teaches the theoretical concepts very easily and clearly. I was able to listen to her very well and soaked up the content like a sponge. She answered all my questions very competently and clearly. On the other hand, she made me think and analyse my own relationship situation and needs through stimulating content and diverse explanations, as well as feeling what I was missing… She also offered numerous physical exercises so that we could try them out directly on the training day and discuss them afterwards. This self-awareness made me feel more confident and aware in some contexts, both for myself and for my future clients. And last but not least: we laughed a lot to bring some lightness even to the deep topics and less pleasant questions / insights. Susanna is honest and authentic, committed and approachable, sexy and inspiring!

On the first weekend in March, I attended Susanna-Sitari Rescio’s ‘Sex Therapy’ seminar for prospective therapists and was thrilled.

It was great to listen to her lectures, my pen just flitted across the paper because there was so much important information, which she conveyed in a clearly structured way with a pinch of humour. With all due respect to the topic and the clients, Mrs Rescio has a pleasantly cheerful manner and she presented the content with such ease that the time passed far too quickly. It was more than a seminar – it was a workshop, because everything was characterised by variety. We did exercises in groups of three and two, then continued in plenary, followed by another short presentation with illustrative examples from her many years of professional experience and another exercise. It was great fun. It continues in a fortnight – the second part is waiting – and the homework 🙂 I’m really looking forward to it – to the second part.
